Staff scheduling for restaurants and cafes

The schedule that runs itself.

Cedar Shifts builds and adjusts your staff schedule on its own, made for restaurants and cafes where the team keeps changing. It keeps every rule, covers call-outs and tells you exactly what's left, so you spend a tenth of the time on scheduling.

Made for teams that never stay the same for long

High turnover turns the weekly schedule into a puzzle that starts over every time. Cedar Shifts does the solving, and you stay in charge.

New people all the time

Add a new hire, send them their link, and they're part of the next build. Nobody has to learn an app.

Availability that keeps moving

Classes, second jobs, trips. Staff update their own answers, and each new week uses the latest ones.

Call-outs at the worst moment

When someone can't make it, Cedar Shifts finds who is free and trained, and asks as few people as it can.

How it works

Four steps, and after the first week most of them take care of themselves.

  1. Staff send their availability

Everyone gets a personal link. No app to install and no account to make: they tap the shifts they can't work, mark days away and submit from their phone.

  2. You set coverage and rules

Your shifts, how many people each needs and in which positions, and house rules in plain words, like “no more than five shifts a week”.

  3. The engine builds the week

An optimization solver puts people on every shift without breaking a single rule. Anything it can't fill is flagged, with who could take it.

  4. Publish, and stay covered

Staff get their shifts by email with a calendar file. Call-outs, swaps and pick-ups are handled from there, each one checked against your rules.

Everything the weekly schedule needs

Live today, for managers on any screen and for staff on their phones.

No app for staff

Availability, shifts and swaps all work from a personal link on their phone. Nothing to download, no password to forget.

Every rule, every time

Availability, training, no double-booking, rest between shifts, hours and days in a row. If a week can't keep them all, it says why and what would fix it.

Gaps flagged, never hidden

A shift nobody can fill is left open and marked, with the people who could take it. Post it, and staff can claim it.

Call-outs covered

Tell it who can't make it. It lines up cover from people who are free and trained, offers them the shift by text or email, or posts it for the team.

Swaps and pick-ups

Staff trade and pick up shifts from their phone, and every change is checked against your rules before it's agreed.

Shifts in their calendar

Published shifts go out by email with a calendar file, and automatic reminders go out before each shift if you want them.

An assistant that asks first

Describe your week in plain English and it sets it up. It explains what the engine did, and anything that changes who works comes back for your yes.

Several restaurants, one team

Run more than one location. People who work at both are never booked in two places at once.

Switch from 7shifts

Bring your past schedules over. Cedar Shifts learns your usual week, your team and their availability from your 7shifts history.
